Every Move Counts: Moving for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Portugal. Almost all of us know someone it has touched, a mother, a friend, a client who trains beside us.
Within our community, there will be people who have faced a diagnosis, supported someone through treatment or sadly lost someone they love. Others may be waiting for results or finding their way through recovery. We may not always know their stories, but we can make sure they feel supported.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re bringing our community together to do exactly that.
On 24th and 25th October, Prescription will donate 100% of class proceeds across all studios to APAMCM: Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Mulher com Cancro da Mama.
Every booking will help support care beyond our studio walls. A class for you, and an act of care for someone else.
A Little Reminder to Care for Yourself
It’s easy to put ourselves last. To postpone an appointment, brush off a concern or promise we’ll make time when life feels less busy.
This month, we’re gently asking you to make that time.
Get to know what’s normal for your body. Speak to a healthcare professional if you notice a change, and keep up with recommended screening. Breast cancer can develop without noticeable symptoms in its early stages, so it’s important to follow through with your screening invitation even when you feel well.
And if someone close to you is going through it, reach out. You don’t need to have the perfect words. A message or simply being there to listen can make a difficult day feel a little less lonely.
Supporting Care That Continues Beyond Diagnosis
Our fundraising will support APAMCM, a Portuguese nonprofit organisation working to improve the quality of life of people affected by breast cancer.
Through preventive care, specialist rehabilitation and awareness initiatives, APAMCM supports people whose lives have been changed by the disease. Its oncology physiotherapy centre helps people navigate the physical challenges of recovery.
Because care is needed long after the first appointment. Recovery takes time, and everyone deserves support along the way.
Your Class Can Make a Difference
On 24th and 25th October, join a class at any Prescription studio and be part of what we raise together.
You’ll find your familiar studio, encouragement from your trainer and a community moving alongside you. This time, your booking will also help support someone beyond the room.
100% of class proceeds across both days will be donated to APAMCM.
Come as you are. Move for yourself, for someone you love or simply because you want to help.
