Community Spotlight: Lauren on Pilates & Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a season of change — physically, mentally, and emotionally. For our trainer Lauren, who has been guiding pre- and post-natal clients for years, experiencing it firsthand has brought new depth and perspective to her teaching and practice.
Lauren has always been passionate about helping women feel strong, confident, and empowered through movement. But now, with her own little one on the way, her connection to Pilates feels more personal than ever.
Shifting the Practice
“I’ve been qualified in teaching prenatal for a long time, but I’ve learnt that everything feels different day to day,” Lauren shares. “Listening to my body has been the most important thing — changing up positions on the reformer has been a game-changer.”
Her adaptability is proof of one of Pilates’ greatest strengths: its ability to meet you exactly where you are. No two days feel the same during pregnancy, and with the reformer’s versatility, Lauren has been able to find supportive and effective movement no matter how her body feels.
The Benefits of Reformer While Pregnant
“It’s amazing to work with the reformer because you can control the resistance and change the intensity so easily. Some days I feel much stronger than others,” she explains. “I also love how many movements really open up the hips, which is exactly what we need the most during pregnancy.”
The balance of strength and release is what makes Reformer Pilates such a powerful tool during pregnancy. It allows mamas-to-be to maintain stability and mobility while feeling more connected and confident in their changing bodies.
Words of Advice for Mamas-to-Be
Lauren’s biggest piece of advice is simple but profound:
“Listen to your body, but also know that you are stronger and more capable than you think. Your intuition and body feedback tell you so much.”
It’s an approach that blends compassion with empowerment, reminding mamas that pregnancy doesn’t mean limitation, but rather a new way to connect with movement.
Teaching With Purpose
As Lauren prepares to welcome her baby, she’s equally excited to keep teaching. “I love seeing mamas go through their unique journeys and feel stronger than they thought they could. Giving them more confidence in their bodies and what they are truly capable of is the best feeling.”
At Prescription, Lauren continues to bring that supportive energy into every pre- and post-natal class, creating a space where women can feel held, celebrated, and empowered through movement.
See you on the reformer!
