What’s in a name? the story behind ‘Prescription’

The name Prescription honors Pilates’ roots and signals (announces?) where we’re taking it next.

The origin we honour

Born in wartime rehab, Pilates began when Joseph Pilates, interned in Britain during WWI, created “Contrology” to help injured soldiers and fellow internees regain function. With scarce equipment, he improvised bed-spring resistance on hospital beds—an idea that inspired today’s spring-loaded Reformer. Rehabilitation first; lasting performance as the result.

The future we’re building through our unique method

Our Prescription is modern, kinetic, and unmistakably ours: dynamic Reformer training with high-intensity, low-impact work and a powerful cardio element via our Reformer trampoline. It’s athletic programming with musical flow and coaching that turns effort into evolution. Not just “a class,” but a plan: the right dose, the right rhythm, the right progression.

Prescription for joy & community

Transformation sticks when it’s fun and shared. The energy in our rooms—names remembered, music rising, small wins celebrated—turns consistency into something you want to come back to. We don’t just count reps; we build a community that lifts together.

What the name promises

  • Tailored progression, not one-size-fits-all.

  • Mindful, dynamic movement—challenging without being punishing.

  • Real change in posture, strength, mood, and momentum.

Prescription is our homage to Pilates’ roots and our blueprint for its future: a clear, uplifting path from recovery to performance—from intention to transformation.
